Dear i,

Pattinathar is quite unique, here, i reproduce "Pattinathar’s Beauty of the Body"

Sensational urge of a matured male
Surging to merge with a cultured girl
Combined with intimate pleasures
Courts complexity of reflex measures.

Sweet dwelling of loyal love
Submits secrets of human life
Emerging droplets of semen sail
Submerge in the fallopian trail.

Fastest sperm reaches ovum in ovary
Fertilizes as a tiny zygote in armory
Fulfilling the glory of sexual amity
Fostered in the womb with purity.

Eyes, mouth, ears, hands and legs
Parts form one by one in stages
Completing the germinal locking
Delivering in ten months clocking.

Cherished and flourish as silk
Nourished by mother’s breast milk
Grows with graceful cradle affection
Smiling scenes in silent motion.

Baby brings happy moments
Parent’s kisses in torrents
Babble talk in lovely language
Shows sweetly creditable signs.

He leans and drops as a ball
Rolls and crawls like a doll
He picks up words gently
Showing talent intelligently.

During his growth as a child
He mixes and goes little wild
Sitting on the dusty compound
Dangles and falls on the ground.

Reaching the age of five years
Breaches wish of tiny players
Shining as a genius in his prime
Excels in studies of the time.

He reaches the glorious stage
With fine curly hairstyle image
Looking charm to marry a queen
Celebrating the sweet age sixteen.

He is smart in his comeliness
He is sweet in his credentials
He is excellent in his sportsmanship
But succumbed to bad companionship.

Flirting lasses long for his glances
Hinting love by their batting eyes
Showing curves and swirling signs
Swinging dopey ropes around him.

Lured by their beauty and warmness
Vesting on the breasts’ blossom ness
Sulking and clasping in alarming fashion
Kissing with pangs of unending passion.

Rushing flood of lucid love in haste
Flushes his strength to terrible waste
Darting with subservient lustiness
Parting all his earned healthiness.

Indulgence in excessive affronts
Ignoring the dangers fondling
He forgot the lessons he learnt
Addiction accounted to all bungling.

Sweetness goes with his beauty
Wealth goes with the naughty
Sickness starts to envelope
Vigor and figure breaking up.

As time goes in ageing tick
He becomes a walking stick
Suffering from several illness
Drag legs with spine weakness.

His words gabble in the mouth
Movements diminish with froth
He has lost his physical ability
And also earned the family enmity.

Coughs disturb his sleeps constantly
Hiccups make him struggle incessantly
Throat and chest dries up frequently
Clothes stripped off unknowingly.

His respect goes for a six
Urchins ridiculing in a fix
Excretion oozing in sprouts
Urine streams in and out.

He looses all his mental balance
He utters something in a trance
Moving with the offensive smell
Reminding the actual sight of hell.

He is worried over his plight
Contents as his irreparable fate
Saliva pours down the mouth
Breath shows nearness of death.

His children feel sorry for his state
Wife mourns without showing distaste
Sudden shudder of throbbing chest
Shirks the majestic soul for a rest.

Body is washed for beauty and clothed
Still the stiffness remains fully loathed
Funeral rites commences in dire haste
Since it is an important customary taste.

Born a single and cried innocent on earth
Shone as a hero and died in no cent worth
Last journey ended with painful mourning
Cremating scandal stains long outstanding.

An Excerpt From The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna:
I shall tell you a few things
about yoga. But you see, the mother bird doesn't break the shell until the chick inside the
egg is matured. The egg is hatched in the fullness of time. It is necessary to practise some
spiritual discipline. The guru no doubt does everything for the disciple; but at the end he
makes the disciple work a little himself. When cutting down a big tree, a man cuts almost
through the trunk; then he stands aside for a moment, and the tree falls down with a crash.
"The farmer brings water to his field through a canal from the river. He stands aside when
only a little digging remains to be done to connect the field with the water. Then the earth
becomes soaked and falls of itself, and the water of the river pours into the canal in
torrents.

Namaskar.

Dear i,

in the life of Sri Sundaresa Iyer, when he was overwhelmed at his samsara life and was having enough of it, was wondering when he wold get the good fortune of staying with Bhagavan always, which he was desperately desiring, and when he spoke about it to Bhagavan, He replied - "Aattam kalayattum, Piragu" meaning - "let the game get over, then"

Releated to the story of cutting twig that Nagaraj ji posted.
:) i think atleast we ramana devotees should make sure that we do not cut flowers, leaves etc of trees
people have the habit of plucking grass if they sit in a lawn!! their mind is restless and their hands simply keep
plucking the grass.

we need to atleast make it a habit to not do such things. coz it hurts them :)

And hey friends, if we give a number to each story, it would be easier to refer to them here in comments.

Though Bhagavan would make no adverse remarks about traditional practices, he did not support his devotees if they did so. Echammal, one of his earlier devotees, told him about her puja with one lakh leaves with all excitement and fervor. Bhagavan remarked, “Instead of pinching the plant, could you not pinch your own skin one lakh times and perform puja that way?”

Some years back, many of us would have read, seen reports about a Siddha seen flying in Arunachala. These reports also came in some news channels. Some on-goers recorded from their mobile phones as well, a siddha seen flying. Those of you who are interested may

Nagaraj garu - yes I remember seeing this in TV. At that time, I was impressed :) - but now I feel funny to see what all Maya does to literally put roadblocks in realizing the "I" :). I can only answer with a story of Swami Vivekananda. Swami was on the ganges bank. A Sadhu came to him and demonstrated walking on Ganga from one end to other !! Swami asked : "How long did you practice Sadhana for this". Yogi replied : "14 years". Swami smiled and said : "Give 10 paise to the boat man and he will take you there. You wasted 14 years to do something than 10 paise can achieve ?" :)
Salutations to Bhagawan

Dear Ravi,

About the incident when Sri Bhagavan applied vibhuti prasadam of Arunachaleswara, when He came on procession via Sri
Ramanasramam:  Sri Bagavan had said:

appAvukku piLLai adakkam.

The son is subservient to Father.

Dear Ravi,

Even in the present days, Vaishnavite are die hard supporters of their own faith and they do not lose any opportunity
to criticize other faiths. As a rare exception, I find one Vaishnavite with Trisurnam doing pujas (along with others) to
Sri Ramaneswara Mahalingam! I also find Vaishnavite devortees coming to the Asramam to pray to Sri Bhagavan.

Sri Bhagavan Himself adorned trisurnam on two occasions.

Once when Pazhaniswami told Him that utsava moorthys of Annamalaiyar and Unnamulai amman kept in the outer portal of
the Big Temple (on some festival days), were quite nice to see, Sri Bhagavan went as if He is a Vaishnavite (to avoid being spotted)
and had darshan of the deities. One priest found  Him out and said: "See, Bhagavan Himself has come as a Vaishnavite to see
the deities."    The priest then garlanded Him and gave Him prasad. Sri Bhagavan quietly accepted them and returned.

On another occasion, in the dinner hall, Sri Bhagavan found white chalk and red ones kept ready  with a mirror. He faithfully
applied trisurnam on His forehead. Nayana who had come to join the dinner, also found the same items. He also applied
trisurnam and smiled. All laughed.

Dear Ravi,

You have mentioned one Chinmayananda, a pracharak, who came to Sri Bhagavan. I am not sure whether he is the same
Chinmayananda of Chinmaya Mission. This Chinmayananda whom I am mentioning, came when he was young to Sri Bhagavan.
Sri Bhagavan looked at him intensely and also perhaps spoke a few words.  Then the young man prostrated to Sri Bhagavan
and left. He recalls later: Whatever I have learnt in His Presence was the same as what I had learnt from my guru
Tapovan Maharaj for 6 years in Uttarakasi.

He was called Bhaskara Menon before he got his diksha name.

Dear Ravi,

Longing for God is in a way mumukshutvam.

Saint Maniikkavachagar says in Tiruvachakam, Anandatitam, Verse 100:

pAda veNdum nAn poRRi ninnaiye
pAdi nainthu nainthu urugi nekku nekku
aAda veNdum nAn poRRi ambalathu
Adu nin kazhal podu nAyinen
kooda veNdum nAn poRRi ip puzhuk
koodu neekena poRRi poyyelam
veeda veNdum nAn poRRi veedu thanthu
aruLu poRRi nin meyyar meyyane!

All these are, as you said elsewhere, avesam, maha bhavam - singing, melting, dancing, longing to leave this cocoon called
body, leaving all falsity and attaining the Truth of truth, meyyar meyyan. Satyasya Satyam.

Arunachala Siva.
