The real happiness does not depend on any cause.

Self-enquiry is not different from surrender. The only apparent difference is that people who practice Self-enquiry surrender to the Self. But accepting existence of Self on Which to meditate or concentrate or to Which to surrender our mind is the same as accepting God and surrendering to Him. There are subject and object in both cases.

Bhagavan about His mukti
« Reply #1802 on: October 05, 2014, 01:38:32 PM »
"Some people," He said, "start off by studying literature in their youth. Then they indulge in the pleasures of the world until they are fed up with them. Next, when they are at an advanced age, they turn to books on Vedanta. They go to a Guru and get initiated by Him and then start the process of sravana, manana and nididhyasana, which finally culminates in samadhi. This is the normal and standard way of approaching liberation. It is called krama mukti [gradual liberation]. But I was overtaken by akrama mukti [sudden liberation] before I passed through any of the above-mentioned stages." [Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi]

"Your duty is to be and not to be this or that. 'I am that I am' sums up the whole truth. The method is summed up in the words 'Be still'. What does stillness mean? It means destroy yourself. Because any form or shape is the cause for trouble. Give up the notion that 'I am so and so'. All that is required to realize the Self is to be still. What can be easier than that?" [Ramana Maharishi]

"There exists only the present instant... a Now which always and without end is itself new. There is no yesterday nor any tomorrow, but only Now, as it was a thousand years ago and as it will be a thousand years hence." [Meister Eckhart]

"Know that the eradication of the identification with the body is charity, spiritual austerity and ritual sacrifice; it is virtue, divine union and devotion; it is heaven, wealth, peace and truth; it is grace; it is the state of divine silence; it is the deathless death; it is jnana, renunciation, final liberation and bliss." [Ramana Maharshi]
