Scary experience during meditation
« on: March 03, 2013, 09:56:07 PM »
A few days ago, I did some meditation and I heard a strange (deep, strong) humming sound. It was like I was about to vanish, so I became scared and got out of the meditation. Since then nothing has happened - my mind isn't able to concentrate as it did that day.

How am I supposed to proceed? I followed the method of detaching myself from thought.

:) If you practised detaching yourself from thought... that sound is a thought too and the feeling you are about to vanish is a thought !
You are the witness of it ! Be thus.
Face it out.

Dear Silence,

Such experiences are not uncommon.  The spiritual literature says there may be sounds of conch shells blowing, waterfalls' s
falling waters, humming sound of bees, and there may be sometimes tastes of milk also on the tongue !  As Sri Bhagavan says:
Ignore them and continue.  Or stop the meditation and then continue after a break.

Arunachala Siva.
